As we sift and sort through the immense pile of entries for the 2016 BCAPL National Championships, we’ve noticed tremendous growth in the Trophy Division. That’s exciting not only for us, but for the entire sport.
The Trophy Team Divisions were started as a way for players to experience the BCAPL National Championships in a less intimidating atmosphere. Since there are no financial payouts in the Trophy Divisions, they don’t have the pressure of ‘money matches.’ This gives these players the opportunity to compete for a national title without some of the pressures that exist in other divisions. Regardless of the division, winning a BCAPL National Championship title is a huge achievement.
Members of the first and second place teams in each of the Trophy divisions receives a custom, personalized team jacket, a trophy and free entry for the 2017 BCAPL National Championships. Members of the third place teams receive trophies.
This year’s Mixed 8-Ball Trophy Teams are made up of five players who have a combined FargoRate of 2,750 or less. These teams will race to 13. The Women’s 8-Ball Trophy teams are made up of four players with a combined FargoRate of 1,800 or less, which will race to eight.
The Trophy Divisions allow players a shot at a national title in an atmosphere that while still very competitive is a little more relaxed and fun because the financial pressure is removed. The reward is competing with friends against teams of similar caliber from across the world and learning to compete in a different atmosphere. Trophy team players enjoy the excitement, experience and competition on an international stage and are inspired to learn more, play more, come back and try again.
