CSI Members No Longer Eligible to Play in BCA Pool League Divisions

10/30/2017

CSI Members are no longer eligible to participate in BCAPL divisions. League divisions are available to qualified league members only.

For the last several years, people who were not members of a BCAPL-sanctioned league could purchase a CSI Membership and participate in BCAPL singles and scotch doubles divisions. The purpose of that policy was to provide opportunity to people who did not have a BCA Pool League in their area. Although the policy was established with good intentions, it created a ‘bypass’ around the league system. Therefore, league divisions are now available to league members only.

CSI Singles Divisions
There are still several events available for non-league members at the BCAPL World Championships. There are three (3) events open to CSI Members – the CSI 9-Ball Singles, CSI 10-Ball Singles, and CSI 8-Ball Singles, held back-to-back, July 23-28. These divisions are non-handicapped and open to any CSI Member with a Fargo Rating of 720 or lower. League-qualified members, even those with ratings above 720, may also participate in these divisions if they choose.

There is a better solution. I have played in your national tournament 3 years as a csi member. The first time was 1995. There were 2000 players and I was lucky to win one match. Ten years later, I was ready to try again but it was closed to csi members. In 2015, I played in my second tournament, won 2 matches and finished 385th. This year I finished 9/300 in the silver division. Now, I am not eligible to play again. Your Tournament field will continue to decline without csi members. Why punish your repeat customers? Cut it off to new players only and grandfather in past csi members.

Jeff, thank you for your taking the time to comment and share your thoughts and suggestions. This decision was made after careful consideration and we ultimately had to protect the integrity of the BCA Pool League system.

Our records indicate that you live in Toledo, OH. We have a great league in Toledo and we would be happy to email you the League Operator's name and contact information.

Thank you!

Its ok jeff, there is a reason why the BCAPL is losing more and more people every year. Youll see it go out of business within 5. Horribly ran as usual

David,

We are sorry that you feel that way. Just to clarify, our membership is growing and we pride ourselves on offering more benefit than any other league sanctioning organization in existence. With FargoRate, brand new league management software, mobile scoring apps, and the best World Championship tournament with the best equipment, the future is very bright for the BCA Pool League and its members.

If you have specific comments or suggestions, we would be happy to discuss or consider them. You may post them here or email them to leagues@playcsipool.com. Thank you.

I wish it had remained the same because we don't have a BCA League in my town. The CSI alternative makes it work but I'll have to play out of my Fargo group. See you in July. :-)

Mr. McAllister,

Our records indicate that you live in Blackfoot, ID. There appears to be an active BCAPL-sanctioned league that plays on Monday nights in Pocatello, ID. It appears this is about 20 miles from you. Joining this league may be a great option to get qualified so you can compete in the BCAPL divisions. If you would like the League Operator name and contact information, we would be happy to send that to you in an email. Thank you!

Mr. Utley,

It appears that you are correct that we do not currently have a BCAPL-sanctioned league in Cameron Park, CA. However, Cameron Park is not a remote region so if you are aware of any independent pool leagues operating in the area, we would be happy to help them get BCAPL-sanctioned so their members can enjoy the many benefits - including becoming eligible for the 2018 BCAPL World Championships. We can be reached Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm pacific time.

This is really a short notice..for me. I too, think your management should allow all past and current csi pool tournament players play. And hold the new changes for new members trying to apply. I was in asc pool league previously. I would like an explanation as to how my or others.participation affected this so called integrity? Please explain.

How many weeks do you have to play on a league in order to play in Nationals?

Hi Jason,

Per the Tournament Guide, "Players must be sanctioned members of a BCAPL league and play a minimum of eight (8) full scheduled weeks in a single division session during the 2017-2018 league year (June 1, 2017 – May 31, 2018)."

The Entry Form, Tournament Guide, and all other event information can be found at www.playcsipool.com/2018-bcapl-wc.

We hope this helps. Thank you!

By what date do you have to have 8 league matches to qualify for 2018 championships? I am starting to play in a league in Longmont Co in a couple weeks, I haven’t played leagues this past winter. Thank you for your replies.

Art,
The eight weeks of play must be completed by the end of the 2017/2018 league year which ends on May 31, 2018. It looks like you have time to get those weeks completed. We look forward to seeing you this July. Thank you!

The BCA Pool League in our area is not an official BCAPL league. Al Weir runs a BCA team league and I run a CSI Singles league (again not official-just use their rules). Since I have an upper and lower division for singles, what do you suggest I do for the lower division? I send the winners of each division to tournaments in Vegas. The barbox championships in December and the BCAPL-CSI tournament in July. The lower division will go 2 and out in the CSI tournaments.

Again, I hate to send the winner of the lower division to go 2 and out. So, if you cannot allow me to sanction that person, I will have no choice but to discontinue that division after this session or go to a cash prize only league. The trip was a huge draw. It is a shame you are blanket disqualifying players. No case-by-case decisions?

Hi Jason,
The BCAPL does, on occasion, sanction singles leagues. All you need to do is submit a sanction application for your singles league. If approved, all of your singles league players will become BCAPL members and be eligible for the BCAPL singles divisions at the BCAPL World Championships.

If you would like to discuss this further, please call our office at 702-719-7665. Thank you!

This is a very disappointing change. I used to play in a BCAPL league in Victoria, BC before moving to Toronto, ON for work. There is no BCAPL-sanctioned league within a reasonable commute here. I have still been able to go down each year and participate in the singles' tournaments with my old league friends from Victoria, but now will be unable to do so. I urge you to reconsider this change.

Kind Regards,
Curtis

Hi Curtis,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that this change is not ideal for some. However, it was a necessary step for league integrity. If there are no leagues near you, we would be happy to help you start your own or help any current leagues that are not sanctioned to become sanctioned. There is still time to get qualified. Thank you.

I’ve been planning in the BCA tournaments for about the last 24 years and only missing a couple when we tried the ACS league. I live in Waverly NY and I looked for a BCA league near me and it was about 60 miles one way. I always looked forward to the BCA tournament in Las Vegas but I guess I might have to rethink coming out depending on how this CSI tournament goes.

Hi Bruce,

We are sorry that you could not find a BCA Pool League near you. If you or anyone else you know wants to start a league in your area, we are happy to help you with that. It is very easy and our staff can help every step of the way.

Also, if there are any independent leagues in your area, we can help get them sanctioned very quickly...even if play has ended.

For non-league members, we do still have the three CSI Singles divisions (8-ball, 9-ball & 10-ball). Thank you!

Well, I guess I'm done with this tournament. Found out today that sometime during the past year, my local league operator dropped BCAPL sanctioning on the night I play. If it was announced, I missed it--the league dues did not go down (lol). I played last year in Vegas and was sanctioned, and also in 2015. The league operator said he is planning to drop BCAPL sanctioning sometime in the next year for the last remaining night that is sanctioned.

It's a shame, but I don't see much purpose in signing up for what will likely be a very small CSI tournament that has 400s and 500s competing against players up to 720.

Mike,

We are sorry to hear that your League Operator did not sanction your division. We will contact your League Operator and ask why. Perhaps he just doesn't understand all of the benefits of being part of the BCA Pool League.

Perhaps you can join another league in the area that is BCAPL-sanctioned?

Something you need to do is remove Wednesday night showing as a sanctioned league in Air Capital Pool League, Wichita, KS on this page: http://www.playcsipool.com/bcapl_fal.html

Very misleading.

As per our previous discussions, there ARE no sanctioned BCA leagues here in the Philippines. I have played the last 2 years in the Vegas World Championship, and now your saying I can't play in my division??? Very Sad.

Hi Gerald,

We are sorry that there is no BCA Pool League near you. If you or anyone else you know wants to start a league in your area, we are happy to help you with that. It is very easy and our staff can help every step of the way. We provide everything you need. Think about it...you could have the first BCA Pool League in your area of the Philippines!

Also, if there are any independent leagues in your area, we can help get them sanctioned very quickly...even if play has ended.

For non-league members, we do still have the three CSI Singles divisions (8-ball, 9-ball & 10-ball). Thank you!

Hi Ronald,

Our records indicate that you are a current "CSI Member" and you are therefore eligible for the CSI Singles 8-Ball, 9-Ball and 10-Ball divisions.

In a previous post, you asked for further explanation as to why this change was made. As stated in the blog, it created a bypass around local league play which began to harm league participation. Since the change, league membership is on the rise and League Operators are thankful. We still offer divisions for non-league members but it just makes sense that BCA Pool League divisions are open to BCA Pool League members. We hope you understand and we hope to see you in July.

Is there gonna be any csi mini tournaments the way it states all the minis closed to bca members can we atleast play in the open minis ?

I understand that CSI members will not be able to participate in the "mini" tournaments. I feel that the CSI members should either have there own mini's or be able to participate in the mini's for BCA members. I hope you reconsider.
